Character History: Bass was created either prior to or during the events of Mega Man 6. Powered by an element that Dr. Wily (accidentally) discovered called Bassnium, he was intended to stand against Wily's greatest rival, Mega Man. Bass was then sealed away and released as part of a scheme to help Wily escape from prison. Bass initially posed as an ally of Mega Man's attempting to stop Wily, as part of an effort to win his trust. He and his support unit, Treble, took advantage of Mega Man's kindness, and ransacked the lab belonging to Mega Man's creator, Dr. Light. They stole the data for the “Super Adapter”, and with it, Wily developed the technology to allow Bass and Treble to fuse. However, not even this was enough to give them the power to defeat Mega Man.
Bass's desire to defeat his rival grew into an obsession. Later, Wily discovered an energy source dubbed “Evil Energy.” Bass attempted to power up with it, but was again defeated.
Later, a new threat rose up called King, who intended to begin a robotic rebellion. Bass and Wily sided with Mega Man, and for a time, Bass was focused on King, believing him to be a stronger opponent. However, it was revealed that King was part of an elaborate plan hatched by Dr. Wily. In a rage, Bass turned on Wily and attempted to fight King himself, but despite defeating him, he found himself unsatisfied. Blues, Mega Man's brother, left Bass with the enigmatic revelation that Bass would never be stronger than Mega Man as long as he never fought to protect others.
Bass turned on Wily several more times, defeating his reconstructed Robot Masters – all to prove that he was superior to each one of them. After the second attempt, Wily revealed his intention to create a replacement for Bass... but Bass scoffed, thinking that he could never be defeated by a robot with girly hair.
Some time later, Bass was pulled into the Digital World.
Bass Personality: Bass is arrogant, proud, wrathful, and unrelenting. Due to his programming, he has the single minded desire to prove that he is the strongest robot... but how he goes about that is due to his personal choices. What's more, his image of true strength can be changed or redefined. Similar “holes” in his programming explain his lack of loyalty to Dr. Wily. Aside from this, Bass is very rude and uncouth. His programming also makes it impossible for him to realize the concept of a superior robot... even a robot much more advanced than him is beatable in Bass's mind.
The issue of Bass's “goodness” is nebulous. At times, he feels the impact of Proto Man's words. At other times, he ignores them and will sacrifice anything to achieve his desires. The robot, Duo, who was a bastion of goodness throughout the universe, said that there IS goodness inside Bass... but whether or not that goodness will be realized is up to Bass, and whether he will realize true strength comes from the path he has since refused to walk down.
BlackGabumon Personality: BlackGabumon is, to be frank, insane. A violent, snarling animal, the only words he ever speaks are attack call-outs. Whether or not there is a heart underneath all that is unclear, but... at times, there are signs that he and Bass are more alike than they realize.
Treble Personality: Treble is Bass's loyal support unit. A robotic wolf, he is both agile and ferocious, and is also completely loyal to Bass. Treble is also the one being that Bass unconditionally loves and respects, and will die to protect him. They have a symbiotic relationship, and both see the other as an indispensable friend.
Bass Abilities: Bass's main weapon is the Bass Buster, which fires a machine gun-like volley of energy blasts from his buster. He also has dash engines in his feet, and can effectively do a “double jump” when in mid-air. As for Treble, he can attack with his teeth and claws, and fire energy blasts from his tail. Bass and Treble can also combine through a process called “Treble Boost”, which grants Bass a more powerful buster, superior armor, and the ability to fly.
BlackGabumon Abilities: BlackGabumon has strength and ferocity on his side. His primary special attack is Petit Fire, in which he breathes fire. He can also perform Little Horn, in which he strikes his enemies with his horn, Skull Cracker, where he delivers a powerful strike to his enemy's head, Machinegun Jab, where he strikes rapidly with his fists, and Blue Cyclone, whereupon he surrounds himself with a spinning cyclone of blue fire.
His evolved form, BlackGarurumon can perform Fox Fire, an attack where he breathes intense flames, Body Blow, where he spins like a living buzzsaw and cutting his foe with the hairs on his back, Freeze Fang, which is a freezing bite attack, Ice Wall, where he creates a wall of ice, and Wolf Cry, whereupon he fires off a sonic howl from his mouth. BlackGarurumon's fur consists of a material called “Mythril”, and is as hard as steel.
